It is that time of the year when everyone is trying to figure out how they are going to shed a few pounds and fit comfortably into that bathing suit. People start exercising, joining gyms, and watching what they eat. And, though most of the tasks involved with shedding that extra weight are a drag, I have found one that isn't It is a simple and easy way to lose some weight without too much trouble. I am talking about buying shirataki noodles.
Shirataki noodles for those of you who don't know about them are amazing. These noodles are low carb, low calorie, and low fat. They are made from a yam found in Asia and taste great! Now you are probably about to as me where to buy shirataki noodles aren't you? Well I will tall you just that in a minute. Let's chat first about how to prepare them.
Shirataki noodles come packed "wet" in water. They are already cooked so you just need to rinse them in a colander for a couple minutes. Once rinsed just add them to any recipe that calls for noodles. You can even enjoy for a quick meal on the go in chicken or beef broth! Shirataki noodles come in many shapes and sizes but I would say that the thin angel hair shaped ones are my favorite.
Shirataki noodles are basically flavorless and they pick up the flavor of whatever dish, sauce, or liquid you heat them in. With such a small nutritional footprint, these are a easy and cheap way to fill you stomach with food that won't cause you to pack on the pounds. I just replace these noodles with regular noodles and I shed my spring weight quite quickly. When your body is craving high carb meals these are a great alternative.
There are also some varieties of shirataki noodles that come made with added tofu. These are also very good and must be refrigerated.
